Welcome to St. Michael’s Home Page.

We hope that you find our web-site helpful. In the Episcopal Church we celebrate the year based on a liturgical calendar and we are now entering the season following Pentecost. Sometimes this is called “ordinary time” because the readings and the season are focused on our everyday lives as disciples of Christ. Ordinary time often implies business as usual, but we know that as Christians nothing is really ordinary in the sense of being plain or predictable. Our Christian life is often filled with wonder and unpredictability, yet we can count on the predictable presence of God’s Spirit to equip us for our ministries.
In this season after Pentecost, St. Michael’s will be busy proclaiming God’s presence by our Food Pantry, Necessity Pantry, and Emergency Assistance Fund. In addition to our social outreach, you should know that we are a prayerful community with groups who pray together and work together to provide support to those who need faith support. For example, our prayer groups pray for many people who are not members of St. Michael’s and also make and give away hundreds of Anglican Rosaries to area hospitals. All of these items: prayers offered, food, laundry soap, diapers, shawls, and rosaries are gifts which represent God’s presence in the lives of those most in need.
We at St. Michael’s are called to be good stewards of God’s creation and in the coming months you will begin to see rain gardens, solar panels or wind turbines and other signs of our stewardship of the environment. Of course we already recycle paper, plastic, paste board, cans, and cardboard, as well as ink cartridges, eyeglasses and cell phones. We keep our heating and air-conditioning programmed to save energy and we are striving to save water. Come and help us move into new ways of living. Come and worship with us. Come and grow with us in this faith community which is committed to social outreach, environmentally responsible living, and spiritual growth. “Ordinary time” is the longest season of the liturgical year because it is the season which focuses on our spiritual growth, our daily life as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Don’t neglect your spiritual health.
May each day of your life in this “ordinary time” be an extra-ordinary example of God’s love and presence.
